In 1994, as Dr. Martin Rodbell was being honored with the Nobel Prize in Medicine, Dr. Vittorio Bonomo, an economist, was trying to find a cure for cancer by researching the scientific literature for the missing link to a cure. With very little background in Microbiology, the field specialty of Dr. Rodbell, but with a superb backgound in creative problem solving, Dr. Bonomo made great strides towards understanding why a cancer cure eluded even the most brilliant scientific minds.
Bonomo pursued his goal of finding the answer that eluded so many others.
This was personal. His father had died from pancreatic cancer. By 1996, Bonomo had reached the limit of his ability to understand how immune system cells communicated with each other and could be "instructed" to ignore the defenses against destruction put up by cancer cells. That is when he turned to Dr. Rodbell for an explanation of his Nobel Prize winning discovery. That explanation permitted Dr. Bonomo to make further discoveries that were relevant to skin care.
Much progress resulted from this expanded understanding...it was discovered that skin cells could be induced to produce more collagen, giving aging skin a more youthful appearance and diminishing the appearance of wrinkles.
To raise funds to further his cancer research, Dr. Bonomo devised a method of altering traditional skin care ingredients to generate signals to skin cells to produce more collagen. He called that messaging system "Signal Technology".
To implement this innovative skincare technology, Dr. Bonomo's daughter, Gina, began to develop a skin care brand that would rely on the use of natural extracts as targets for the implementation of Signal Technology to improve the appearance of aging skin. This new approach provided protection against free radicals and support for the body's own repair process.
With Dr. Bonomo's help, it was discovered that the natural ingredient approach was actually more effective in the rejuvenation of the appearance of aging skin than the more synthetic, chemical, approach previously used in Signal Technology.
